Contactless chip types like HITAG1 are used more and more often. They are incorporated into the plastic card and cannot be seen from the outside. In these so-called transponder cards microchip and antenna are safely hid in the robust laminate, thus your store cards or identification badges are permanently protected from wearout.
Additionally, plastic cards with contactless chip types allow for various combinations: identification badges can also be used for controlling access authorization and for opening doors or for time recording and charging canteen meals.
